US maintains its imperial status by all means, harming itself — Putin

ST. PETERSBURG, June 6. /TASS/. The United States spends huge resources to maintain its status of an empire, but this does not benefit it, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with heads of international news agencies organized by TASS.

"Today's [US] leadership wants to maintain its imperial position at all costs and only harms itself," the Russian leader said.
