MOSCOW, March 20. /TASS/. Russia’s incumbent President Vladimir Putin received 72.3% during the 2024 presidential vote abroad, according to the Vybory (Elections) State Automated System.
During this year’s presidential election, 295 polling stations opened in 144 countries, including seven polling stations within the city of Baikonur, Kazakhstan.
A total of 383,553 voters took part, and 275,249 of them voted for Putin. New People party candidate Vladislav Davankov was the runner-up (63,388 votes or 16,65%), followed by Communist Party candidate Nikolay Kharitonov (8,445 votes or 2.22%) and LDPR candidate Leonid Slutsky (7,495 votes or 1.97%). The remaining 26,147 ballots were deemed invalid.
Russia held its first-ever three-day presidential election on March 15-17. According to data from the Central Election Commission (CEC), incumbent Russian President Vladimir Putin, who ran as an independent, self-nominated candidate, garnered 87.28% of the vote, with 100% of the ballots counted. The voter turnout was the highest in Russia’s modern history, with 77.44% of eligible voters going to the polls.
