Russia needs to review relations with Central and Eastern European states — diplomat

The diplomats also discussed the current situation in and prospects for further development of Moscow’s relations with the countries of this region and outlines top priority tasks for Russian diplomatic missions amid the changing geopolitical environment

MOSCOW, November 4. /TASS/. Russia needs to review formats of its cooperation with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimir Titov said on Friday.

The senior diplomat met with Russian ambassadors to Austria, Hungary, Lichtenstein, Poland, Slovakia, Germany, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland.

"He stressed the necessity of revising the former formats of cooperation with these states following their decisions to freeze bilateral cooperation practically in all spheres," the Russian foreign ministry said. "It was noted that amid the accelerating processes of cardinal transformation of the architecture of international security, the role of Russian diplomatic missions in ensuring Russia’s foreign policy interests is increasing."

The diplomats also discussed the current situation in and prospects for further development of Moscow’s relations with the countries of this region and outlines top priority tasks for Russian diplomatic missions amid the changing geopolitical environment. They also exchanged views on practical aspects of the operation of Russian embassies.
