YouTube blocks account of Russian football club CSKA Moscow

Russia’s development institution VEB, who is a majority shareholder of CSKA, and 25 its subsidiaries in Russia and third countries have earlier been sanctioned by the United States

MOSCOW, March 3. /TASS/. Video hosting service YouTube has blocked on Thursday an account of Russian football club CSKA Moscow.

Upon an attempt to access to the video channel of the Russian football club a notice pops up saying that the page is unavailable. YouTube earlier blocked a number of Russian accounts due to the developments in Ukraine.

Russia’s development institution VEB and 25 its subsidiaries in Russia and third countries have been sanctioned by the United States. In particular, Bank BELVEB OJSC, a bank operating in Belarus, Prominvestbank (Ukraine), as well as VEB Asia Limited, a financial company located in Hong Kong, were blacklisted.

Moreover, the American sanctions also included CSKA Moscow football club, whose majority shareholder is VEB.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24 that in response to a request by the heads of the Donbass republics he had made a decision to carry out a special military operation.

The Russian leader stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukrainian territories. When clarifying the developments unfolding, the Russian Defense Ministry reassured that Russian troops are not targeting Ukrainian cities, but are limited to surgically striking and incapacitating Ukrainian military infrastructure. There are no threats whatsoever to the civilian population.
