Two law enforcers injured in grenade blast in Russia's Caucasus, assailants shot dead

Regional Interior Ministry's press service said an investigative team is working at the site

NAZRAN, December 12. /TASS/. Two law enforccement officers have been injured in a grenade blast in Nazran, the capital of the Russian North Caucasus region of Ingushetia, the regional Interior Ministry’s press service said on Wednesday.

"Today, at about 6pm Moscow time, during suspects’ detention in a shopping mall in Kartoyeva Street in Nazran, one of them hurled a grenade at law enforcers. As a result, two officers were injured," the spokesperson said.

The law enforcers were reported to be rushed to Nazran’s central hospital with multiple shrapnel wounds.

The assailants were shot dead in retaliatory fire, the spokesperson added.

"Retaliatory fire destroyed the attackers. An investigative team is working at the site," he said.
