Russian Railways plan to transport record high 1.3 bln passengers — CEO

Suburban transportation and urban commuter rail projects in agglomerations should become the transportation growth driver, Oleg Belozerov said

MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. Russian Railways are going to transport record-breaking 1.3 bln passengers in 2025, CEO Oleg Belozerov said.

"All the assumptions are in place to target ambitious growth indicators as regards passenger transportation. The total level as of the end of 2025 is to achieve the level of 1.3 bln passengers, that is, surpass historical indicators we reached last year," the chief executive said.

Suburban transportation and urban commuter rail projects in agglomerations should become the transportation growth driver, Belozerov added.

Passenger transportation by Russian Railways gained 7% annually and reached 1.284 bln people, including 1.16 bln passengers (+7.3%) in the suburban service and 127.4 mln (+4.4%) in the long-distance service.
