ASHGABAT, January 20. /TASS/. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin considers increasing trade turnover with Turkmenistan a top priority, he said on Friday, adding that the government would search for possibilities to expand trade and economic cooperation with Ashgabat.
"I consider it most important to boost our trade and economic cooperation, trade turnover. It currently stands at around $1 bln, which does not reflect the potential of our countries, and of course, we will search for new areas [for cooperation] in all fields," Mishustin said during one-on-one talks with Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
Russia and Turkmenistan actively cooperate in such sectors as machine building, energy, oil and gas, agriculture, and the digital economy, the Russian PM noted.
Russian businesses are interested in cooperating with Turkmen partners, he said, stressing that the idea of creating a Russian-Turkmen business forum was well-received in Russia. More than 400 Russian entrepreneurs have come to attend the first business forum that is currently taking place in Ashgabat, working actively with colleagues from Turkmenistan for the second day, Mishustin noted.
