Rosatom’s subsidiary opens office in Japanese capital

Russia’s ambassador to Japan Mikhail Galuzin said that the newly-opened office of Rosatom’s company was an example of stable and steady onward development of bilateral relations

TOKYO, November 12. /TASS/. The office of a daughter company affiliated with Russia’s nuclear power corporation Rosatom, Rosatom Japan, opened in Tokyo in a special ceremony on Monday, a TASS correspondent reports.

"This event turns a new page in Rosatom’s relations with Japan. Historically Tokyo has been among our key foreign partners and our cooperation is meant to last at least for 20 years," the corporation’s chief Kirill Komarov said.

Rosatom has for a long time held one of the leading positions as a supplier of uranium products to Japan. It provides goods and services to nine of the ten companies running nuclear power plants in the country.

"The expansion of our presence here is a logical continuation of relations of partnership that have already shown they are reliable and of many successful projects. Rosatom’s office in Japan will not only let us enhance cooperation over the current projects, but also open up new opportunities for mutually beneficial undertakings along other crucial guidelines," Komarov said.

Russia’s ambassador to Japan Mikhail Galuzin said that the newly-opened office of Rosatom’s daughter company was an example of stable and steady onward development of relations between Tokyo and Moscow.

"Russia and Japan adhere to such principles as equality, respect and non-intervention in each other’s internal affairs. Japanese-Russian relations in civilian nuclear power rely on old-time traditions and this is critically important for energy security.

Rosatom Japan’s chief is Sergei Demin. Before, he was director general of Rosatom East Asia.
