TASHKENT, January 22. /TASS/. Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov at a meeting in Tashkent discussed fostering and strengthening Uzbek-Russian ties of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance.
"The issues of further developing and boosting Uzbek-Russian relations of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance were discussed in the context of the practical implementation of the agreements, reached during the Russian president’s state visit to Uzbekistan in May 2024," the presidential administration said in a statement.
The sides noted "the importance of expanding interaction between the military agencies of both countries in accordance with adopted program and planning documents."
The statement noted that before the meeting, Belousov conveyed to Mirziyoyev Russian President Vladimir Putin’s best regards.
Belousov is in Uzbekistan on a visit. Earlier on Wednesday, he and his Uzbek counterpart Shukhrat Halmukhamedov signed the plan for military cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan for 2025 and the strategic partnership program in the military sector for 2026-2030. Later, according to the Russian Defense Ministry, Belousov and Halmukhamedov visited Tashkent’s Victory Park to lay wreaths at a war memorial.
