Russia says nationalists intentionally burned some 50,000 tons of grain in Mariupol silo

Militants of nationalist battalions didn’t want to leave grain supplies to the residents of the city of Mariupol, Mizintsev, head of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, said

MOSCOW, June 7. /TASS/. Mikhail Mizintsev, head of Russia’s National Defense Management Center, on Tuesday said fighters of nationalist battalions intentionally burned more than 50,000 tons of grain by setting fire to a large grain silo in the Mariupol port as they left captured areas.

"It has been reliably established that militants of nationalist battalions, as they were leaving the captured territories and didn’t want to leave grain supplies to the residents of the city of Mariupol, deliberately set fire to a large grain silo in the seaport," he said. "As a result, more than 50,000 tons of grain was destroyed."

He said such events are taking place with full support of "the countries of the so-called civilized West" and the ongoing "hysteria surrounding the false accusations that the Russian Federation created a food crisis in the world."

"This inhuman crime demonstrates to the entire world community the true face of the Kiev regime, which essentially uses the methods of food terrorism against its own people," Mizintsev said.

The general also said that during the special operation of the armed forces of the Russian Federation, civilians are provided with comprehensive assistance and support, and are given humane treatment.
