EU wants sanctioning Russian nuclear, oil and gas sector — Hungary’s Foreign Minister

The Hungarian government "will not allow any sanctions that would contradict interests of Hungary, its national security and energy security," Peter Szijjarto noted

BUDAPEST, November 18. /TASS/. The EU member-countries are discussing the possibility of including sanctions against Russian energy facilities, oil and gas installation sand nuclear plants into the 15th sanctions package, Hungary’s Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told reporters at the meeting streamed by M1 television.

European colleagues "cannot free themselves from the captivity of old ideas" and are now preparing the 15th package of anti-Russian sanctions. "Some EU member-states thirst after blood and speak about sanctions in respect of energy sector, oil or natural gas transportation and the nuclear power industry," the minister said. "They also put forward clearly crazy proposals, for example, regarding sanctions against athletes, sports club, church leaders and UN officials," Szijjarto noted.

The Hungarian government "will not allow any sanctions that would contradict interests of Hungary, its national security and energy security," the minister added.
