CARACAS, March 2. /TASS/. Venezuela will hold its presidential election in the second half of the year, the country’s incumbent President Nicolas Maduro said at the eighth summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in Kingstown, the capital of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Maduro pointed out that 43 political parties, social movements, public and religious organizations in the country had made an agreement "that fully guarantees an electoral process in the second half of the year."
Under Venezuela’s constitution, it is up to the National Electoral Council to set the date of the vote.
Maduro invited CELAC and the United Nations to send their observers to monitor the election.
