Belize revokes Israeli ambassador’s accreditation agreement

"All activities conducted by the Israeli Honorary Consulate in Belize and the appointment of the Honorary Consul, are suspended," the Central American state’s government said in a statement

HAVANA, November 15. /TASS/. Belize has revoked its Agreement for the accreditation of Israel’s Ambassador Designate to Belize and suspended activities of the Israeli Honorary Consulate in Belize, the Central American state’s government said in a statement, posted on its official website.

"We have appealed to Israel to implement an immediate ceasefire, and to allow unimpeded access of humanitarian supplies into Gaza. Despite our requests, Israel has not stopped its violations of international humanitarian low nor allowed relief workers to alleviate the suffering of millions of Gazans," the statement says.

In this regard, the country’s ministry of foreign affairs, external trade and immigration resolved to take the following measures with immediate effect.

"The Government of Belize has decided to withdraw its Agreement for the accreditation of H.E. Einat Kranz-Neiger, Israel’s Ambassador Designate to Belize," the statement says. "All activities conducted by the Israeli Honorary Consulate in Belize and the appointment of the Honorary Consul, are suspended."

"Belize renews its call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the unimpeded access of humanitarian supplies into Gaza and the release of all hostages," the statement says.

A number of countries earlier withdrew their ambassadors from Israel, including Jordan, Colombia, Turkey, Chile, South Africa. Bolivia severed diplomatic relations with Tel Aviv.

The situation in the Middle East sharply escalated following an incursion of Hamas militants from the Gaza Strip into Israel on October 7, accompanied by killings of residents of Israeli settlements near the border and taking more than 200 hostages, including children, women and elderly people. Hamas regards the attack as a response to Israeli actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on Jerusalem's Temple Mount. Israel has declared a complete siege of the Gaza Strip and has started delivering strikes on that area and parts of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also taking place in the West Bank.
