According to the WHO chief, more than 10,800 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip, with nearly 70% of them being women and children

UNITED NATIONS, November 10. /TASS/. A child dies every ten minutes in the Gaza Strip, Director General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Friday.

According to the WHO chief, more than 10,800 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip, with nearly 70% of them being women and children.

"On average, a child is killed every 10 minutes in Gaza," he said at a United Nations Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East.

"1.5 million people have been displaced, and are looking for shelter anywhere they can find it. But nowhere and no-one is safe," he said. "In addition to caring for the 27,000 people who are wounded, many of them with life-threatening injuries, they (medical personnel - TASS) are trying to manage the regular health needs of more than 2 million people."

"More than 180 women give birth in Gaza single every day," he added.

According to UNECEF, more than 400 children are killed or wounded in the Gaza Strip every day. Gaza, according to a UNICEF official, is a cemetery for children.
