Putin’s self-isolation to last at least a week — Kremlin

Putin is currently self-isolating in his Novo-Ogaryovo residence outside Moscow

MOSCOW, September 16. /TASS/. Russian President Vladimir Putin’s self-isolation due to COVID-19 cases in his inner circle will last at least a week, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.

"It [self-isolation] will last a few more days. I believe it will last at least a week, but I cannot tell you the exact number of days," he said.

On Tuesday morning, it was announced that Putin was self-isolating.

When asked whether the president’s health protection protocol will change due to confirmed COVID-19 cases in his inner circle, Peskov said, "An analysis is required."

"Someone was infected. When events with the participation of the head of state take place, especially public ones, one way or another, many people are involved in holding, organizing and covering them. That is why, of course, the risk of COVID-19 penetration can be minimized. However, it is next to impossible to rule it out 100% in the course of normal work," the Kremlin spokesman explained. According to Peskov, it is impossible to say with precision where and when the coronavirus penetrated the president’s inner circle.
