MOSCOW, October 29. /TASS/. Pyongyang highly values Moscow’s assistance in maintaining peace on the Korean Peninsula and looks forward to further cooperation, North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Sin Hong-chol said at a Monday meeting dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
"We very much value the Russian government’s assistance and solidarity with our efforts to ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula," he said. "We will continue to actively cooperate with our Russian friends, seeking to protect peace and security on the Korean Peninsula," the senior North Korean diplomat added.
Sin Hong-chol also pointed out that North Korean leader Kim Jong-un had always paid much attention to the country’s relations with Russia.
"We are ready to give new impetus to bilateral ties in 2019, which will mark the 70th anniversary of the first intergovernmental agreement on economic and cultural cooperation between our countries. We will make every possible effort so that friendship and good neighborly relations between the people of our countries go on and thrive in the centuries to come," the North Korean vice foreign minister stressed.
