MOSCOW, February 13. /TASS/. Russian football club Spartak Moscow extended the contract of Head Coach Guillermo Abascal until the summer of 2025, the club’s press office announced on Monday.
Originally from Spain, Abascal took the reins for Spartak Moscow FC in June 2022 and after 17 rounds this season, the club is currently in second place in the Russian Premier League (RPL) with 36 points.
"We are glad extending a contract with Guillermo Abascal and his coaching staff," Spartak Moscow FC Director General Yevgeny Melezhikov said.
"This is what both parties were looking for and the talks were held in a constructive manner. We will keep on working hard for the sake of our club," Melezhikov added.
Spanish professional football head coach Abascal, 33, managed a number of professional football clubs and joined Spartak Moscow FC this summer.
Throughout its century-long history, Spartak Moscow FC has been a 12-time USSR champion and ten-time champion of Russia. The team is the winner of numerous other awards and trophies. Spartak Moscow FC finished 2nd in the 2020/2021 season of the Russian Premier League (RPL).
