VOLGOGRAD, February 2. /TASS/. The readiness to go all the way and to do the impossible for the sake of truth has been and remains in the very blood of the multinational people of Russia, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a solemn concert, dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad Thursday.
"A vicious resistance of our fighters and commanders, sometimes beyond human abilities, could be understood and explained only by their loyalty to the Homeland, their firm, absolute belief that the truth is on our side. The readiness to go all the way for the Homeland, for truth, has been and remains in the very blood, in the character of our multi-national people. It was this readiness that took Nazism down," the head of state underscored.
He noted that two armies fought amid the devastated city of Stalingrad for 200 days.
"And the one that was stronger in spirit emerged victorious," Putin noted.
