MOSCOW, December 7. /TASS/. Additional mobilization is not required now, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting of the Human Rights Council on Wednesday.
"Talks about any additional mobilization measures make no sense, as there is no need for the state and the Defense Ministry in this (additional military call-up - TASS) at present," Putin said.
Putin said that only 77,000 of 300,000 draftees are currently deployed to combat units.
"Out of 300,000 mobilized soldiers, our men, defenders of the Fatherland, we have 150,000 in the area of the [special military] operation, that is, half among the troops, in the grouping. Of these 150,000 [troops] in the grouping, 50% - 77,000 - are deployed to combat units, the rest are in the second, third lines, actually serving as territorial defense troops, or undergoing additional training in the area of the operation," the president said.
The president explained that "the other 150,000, which is half of all the mobilized citizens, are not in the grouping at all, since they are still at firing ranges and training centers of the Defense Ministry, where they undergo additional training."
"If we can call it that, they are the so-called combat reserve - half of all those mobilized," Putin said. Therefore, he said, there is no need for any additional military call-up under these conditions.
