MOSCOW, September 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Russia’s President Vladimir Putin and Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in a telephone conversation discussed the situation in Ukraine, the Kremlin’s press service said on Sunday.

“The leaders discussed key issues of the Russian-Japanese relations and exchanged views on the current international agenda, including the situation in Ukraine,” the press service said. “They have agreed to continue bilateral contacts at various levels.”

During the conversation the Russian president sent greetings to Japan’s prime minister on his 60th birthday.
