MOSCOW, February 10. /TASS/. Russian servicemen complained about harrowing torture in Ukrainian captivity after they returned home through a recent prisoner exchange, said Maxim Grigoryev, chairman of the International Public Tribunal on the Crimes of Ukrainian Neo-Nazis and Their Accomplices.
On February 5, Russia brought back 150 servicemen from Ukrainian captivity with the help of UAE mediators, and sent home 150 Ukrainian prisoners of war in return.
"Just yesterday we were done with interviews. They tell absolutely terrible things about the brutal torture that our servicemen are subjected to," Grigoryev said at a meeting at the Russian Civic Chamber.
According to Grigoriev, Ukrainians are particularly cruel to people from the Lugansk People’s Republic, the Donetsk People’s Republic and Crimea.
"They are tortured separately and are subjected to a lot. There is a special hatred toward them," he said.
The International Public Tribunal was established in May 2022. More than 1,000 witnesses and victims of war crimes have been interviewed since then. All testimonies are documented, with the names and last names of the victims of the crimes put on the record. All data is compiled and sent to international organizations and Russian investigative agencies.
The International Public Tribunal includes representatives of civil society from more than 30 countries. The testimonies of the victims of the Ukrainian military, which were collected by the tribunal and published on the Internet, have been viewed more than 80 million times.
