London buying weapons for Kiev in third countries, Russian envoy says

According to Andrey Kelin, London views any contact with the Russian Embassy as toxic, which is why work with the British Foreign Office is carried out mainly as a matter of necessity, particularly for the handover of various messages and protest notes

MOSCOW, February 9. /TASS/. The United Kingdom is purchasing weapons for Ukraine from third countries, Russian Ambassador to London Andrey Kelin told the Rossiya-24 TV channel on Thursday.

"London currently ranks second among NATO countries in terms of military - military and not humanitarian - assistance to Ukraine. It is indeed providing a lot of equipment and a great amount of ammunition, in particular. Notably, the UK is purchasing ammunition from third countries - and we know which ones - in order to send it to Ukraine," the envoy pointed out.

"There’s this misguided notion that thrives here that tank supplies lead to peace. This is clearly a deep delusion because they don’t lead to peace but to further escalation of the armed conflict in Ukraine," the ambassador added.

According to Kelin, London views any contact with the Russian Embassy as toxic, which is why work with the British Foreign Office is carried out mainly as a matter of necessity, particularly for the handover of various messages and protest notes. "The British believe that they understand everything but this is also a deep delusion," the diplomat concluded.
