MOSCOW, January 18. /TASS/. The tasks within the framework of agreements between Russia and Turkey on Syria, including that regarding Idlib, remain relevant, Russian Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference on Russian diplomacy in 2022 on Wednesday, noting the necessity to continue enforcing their implementation.
It is necessary to continue enforcing the implementation of the endorsed tasks within the Syrian settlement, he stressed. "They remain fully relevant," Lavrov said.
Idlib is one of the main sensitive issues on the Syrian settlement, the minister emphasized. "To make sure that the agreements on unacceptability of terrorists remaining there will still be implemented. Further on to the north-east, it is necessary to establish contacts there between the government and the Kurds," he said.
Russia’s top diplomat also noted the importance of solving the issues of Syria’s economic revival, adding that the West is trying to keep the channels of supplying humanitarian cargoes without Damascus’ control through the Turkish border to Idlib, "using every trick in the book."
