CSTO regional alliance urges global community to increase humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

Stanislav Zas also emphasized that the document confirmed the intention of the CSTO member countries to help Afghanistan in building a peaceful, stable and prosperous country, free of terrorism, war, and drugs

DUSHANBE, September 15./TASS/. The countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) urge the global community to expand humanitarian assistance to the population of Afghanistan, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas said after a joint meeting of the Council of Defense Ministers, the Council of Foreign Ministers, and the Committee of Secretaries of the CSTO Security Councils on Wednesday.

"In a joint statement of the CSTO countries, there is an appeal to the world community to expand the badly needed humanitarian assistance to the Afghan population," Stanislav Zas said.

He also emphasized that the document confirmed the intention of the CSTO member countries to help Afghanistan in building a peaceful, stable and prosperous country, free of terrorism, war, and drugs, as well as signaled readiness to participate in international efforts towards stabilization and development of Afghanistan with the central coordinating role of the United Nations.
