Nearly 1,000 buildings totally ruined in Turkey’s quake-hit Kahramanmaras province

It is reported that the search and rescue operation continues round-the-clock

ANKARA, February 7. /TASS/. At least 941 buildings have been totally ruined in Turkey’s southeastern province of Kahramanmaras after Monday’s earthquakes, Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu said on Tuesday.

"According to the latest data, as many as 941 buildings have been completely destroyed in Kahramanmaras. But we think there can be more. Some affected areas are hard to reach due to the unfavorable weather. But our rescuers are sparing no effort to save people. Time is working against us," he told local television channels, adding that about 600 quake victims have been identified.

According to the minister, the search and rescue operation continues round-the-clock. "A large number of rescue teams from Turkey and foreign states have been deployed to all affected regions. In Kahramanmaras alone, 2,000 professional rescuers, including from foreign states, are working," the minister said.
