ST. PETERSBURG, April 2. /TASS/. An explosion occurred on the territory of Mozhaysky Military-Space Academy in St. Petersburg on Tuesday. Four people were injured in the blast, Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov has told reporters.
"We have three injured people and one with slight injuries," Beglov said.
According to early reports, all individuals injured in the blast were officers.
Beglov said all services had operated promptly to deal with the aftermath of the blast. All communications were disconnected promptly. "People were evacuated, which is the most important thing, the head of the academy and everybody reacted the way they were supposed to," the acting governor said.
An unidentified shell-less device went off at office premises of an administrative building of the academy at about 13:30 on Tuesday. No students were injured in the blast, other reports said.
According to a source from the North-Western Federal District’s emergency service, the explosion occurred in a lower storey of a building of the academy during the transportation of a dangerous object.
"The exploded object was on the first or second storey of the building. It was in a package. There was an attempt to move it, and then the explosion occurred," the source said.
