Russia's international reserves grow by $1.1 bln over week to $620.8 bln

MOSCOW, February 6. /TASS/. Russia's international reserves as of January 31, 2025, amounted to $620.8 bln, having increased by $1.1 bln in a week, according to the Bank of Russia.

"International reserves reached $620.8 bln at the end of the day on January 31, 2025, increasing by $1.1 bln or 0.2% over the week, mainly due to positive revaluation," the regulator said in a statement.

As of January 24, the volume of reserves amounted to $619.7 bln.

International reserves, which are highly liquid foreign assets at the disposal of the Bank of Russia and the Russian government, consist of foreign currency funds, special drawing rights, a reserve position in the IMF, and monetary gold. After the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine, Western countries imposed sanctions on the Bank of Russia. In addition to freezing Russia’s gold and foreign currency reserves, all operations related to the management of the reserves and assets of the Bank of Russia, as well as operations with any legal entity, organization or body acting on behalf of or at the direction of the regulator were prohibited.
