Russia to deepen cooperation with Eswatini in agricultural sector — Lavrov

Upon wrapping up the talks, the parties agreed to form a list of priority areas, which will be prepared for discussion along the lines of the chambers of commerce and industry, and contacts among businessmen

MBABANE, January 24. /TASS/. Moscow is going to deepen its interaction with Eswatini in the area of Russian grain supplies, energy and mineral resources mining, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a press conference following talks with the Kingdom of Eswatini’s top diplomat, Thulisile Dladla.

"We stated that efforts should be focused now on the economic sphere, which by its indicators so far lags far behind other areas of our cooperation, above all the excellent level of political dialogue," the Russian top diplomat said. "We outlined priority areas of business cooperation, these are exploration and production of mineral resources, energy, agriculture, including the supplies of Russian grain, the cultivation of our grain crops on the territory of Eswatini, the construction of irrigation systems in this country and, certainly, today’s spheres of interaction - information and communication technologies and the digital economy," Lavrov noted.

Upon wrapping up the talks, the parties agreed to form a list of priority areas, which will be prepared for discussion along the lines of the chambers of commerce and industry, and contacts among businessmen, the top diplomat said. "In particular, this will be in the course of the forthcoming SPIEF [St. Petersburg International Economic Forum - TASS], with the aim of achieving specific results by the next meetings during the Russia - Africa economic forum, scheduled for July as part of the second summit between Russia and the African continent," Lavrov added.
