Food security and other issues on the international agenda were also discussed

MOSCOW, November 14. /TASS/. Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin at a meeting on Monday with the newly appointed head of the EU delegation in Moscow, Roland Galharague, notified the diplomat of the need to fully comply with the terms of the grain deal, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said in a news release.

"The need for the comprehensive implementation of the package agreement was emphasized, which includes both the Black Sea initiative for the export of Ukrainian food by sea, and, on equal footing, a memorandum of understanding between Russia and the UN Secretariat on promoting Russian foods and fertilizers to world markets," the news release reads.

The two men also discussed food security and other issues on the international agenda.

The meeting took place at Galharague’s initiative.

The agreements on the export of food from Ukraine were concluded on July 22 for a period of 120 days. They are valid until November 19 and will be automatically extended for 120 days, if none of the parties (Russia, the UN, Ukraine or Turkey) oppose them. Vershinin told reporters earlier that the issue of extending the grain deal had not yet been settled. On November 11, Geneva hosted a meeting between a UN delegation headed by Deputy Secretary-General Martin Griffiths and Director-General of the UN Conference on Trade and Development Rebeca Grynspan, on one side, and a Vershinin-led Russian delegation, on the other. The UN said that the export of food and fertilizers from Russia was discussed. The world organization urged the removal of all remaining obstacles to these exports.
