MOSCOW, January 28./TASS/. Moscow resumes flights to Greece and Singapore from February 8, the Russian anti-coronavirus crisis center reports. Flights from Moscow to Athens will be operated twice a week, while flights to Singapore - three times a week, it said.
"Following discussion and given the epidemiological situation in certain countries, the crisis center has decided to resume international flights on a reciprocal basis with Greece (Moscow-Athens, two flights a week) and Singapore (Moscow-Singapore, three flights a week) from February 8, 2021," the report said.
Russia will also resume international flights from eight regions of the country on February 8. "International airports in the cities of Astrakhan, Yekaterinburg, Irkutsk, Makhachkala, Mineralnye Vody, Nizhny Novgorod, Perm and Khabarovsk will resume international flights on February 8," the statement reads.
In addition, the number of regular flights to Egypt from various Russian airports will be increased.
At the moment, only airports in Moscow and St. Petersburg operate international flights.
Russia suspended international flights in March 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The gradual resumption of flights began in the summer of 2020. Russia has so far resumed flights to and from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Egypt, the UAE, Turkey, the UK, Switzerland, Serbia, Japan, the Maldives and Cuba. Flights to and from Ethiopia and the Seychelles have been resumed officially but no air carriers have announced flights to these destinations yet. Besides, Russia temporarily suspended flights to from the UK in December after a new coronavirus strain had been detected in the country.
