MOSCOW, March 30. /TASS/. Combat teams of Solntsepyok heavy flamethrowers struck Ukrainian army strongholds in the Krasny Liman area during the special military operation in Ukraine, Spokesman for Russia’s Battlegroup Center Alexander Savchuk told TASS on Thursday.

"In the Krasny Liman direction, reconnaissance squads uncovered three Ukrainian nationalists’ strongholds. TOS-1A Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower systems of the battlegroup Center struck the enemy positions with thermobaric shells. The enemy sustained manpower and equipment losses," the spokesman said.

In addition, teams of the central battlegroup’s Tor-M1 anti-aircraft missile systems spotted and destroyed Ukrainian drones, he said.

The TOS-1A Solntsepyok (Scorching Sun) is a flamethrower system based on the tank’s chassis. The flamethrower fires 220mm rockets with a thermobaric warhead. The Solntsepyok is designated to incinerate and destroy enemy manpower, combat hardware and fortifications with an enhanced blast.
