Investigation of US biolabs in Ukraine nears completion — Russian MFA

Sergey Ryabkov recalled that several major events had taken place recently, including a special consultative meeting in Geneva and BTWC review conference

MOSCOW, February 9. /TASS/. Russia’s parliamentary probe into the United States’ military-biological activities in Ukraine is nearing completion, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told a news conference on Thursday.

"The parliamentary inquiry into the military biological activities of the United States in Ukraine is nearing completion. We, Russia’s Foreign Ministry, are contributing to the relevant discussions, primarily in the context of how this unacceptable situation should be seen from the angle of the Biological and Toxin Weapons Convention (BTWC) ", he said.

Ryabkov drew attention to the fact that "the US Department of Defense, which is the customer and main coordinator of such efforts, has been showing great interest in this kind of activity, including the collection of biomaterials and corresponding manipulations with viruses and bacteria and their carriers on the territories along the perimeter of Russian borders."

Ryabkov pointed out that "the transfer of US military biological activities to the Baltic states and Poland had been well expected."

He recalled that several major events had taken place recently, including a special consultative meeting in Geneva and BTWC review conference.

"The Russian delegation presented a long list of questions regarding what, how and why was done there. The questions have remained unanswered by Washington and Kiev," Ryabkov said.
