MOSCOW, February 8. /TASS/. The air-launched anti-radiation missile developed and produced by Russia’s Tactical Missiles Corporation has proven its high efficiency in the special military operation in Ukraine due to its new multi-purpose warhead, a source in the domestic defense ministry told TASS on Wednesday.
"The latest air-launched anti-radiation missile was outfitted with a top-notch multi-purpose warhead capable of engaging all types of targets," the source said.
The new anti-radar missile has proven its high efficiency in the zone of the special military operation in Ukraine, he stressed. The previous missile of this type had three different warheads employed depending on the designated target, he explained.
Another source in the domestic defense ministry told TASS in October 2022 that the air-launched anti-radiation missile produced by Tactical Missiles Corporation proved its over 98% efficiency in the special military operation in Ukraine. At that time, several dozen missiles were employed and their codenames were not specified.
TASS has no official confirmation of this information yet.
Anti-radiation missile
According to the military output catalog of Tactical Missiles Corporation, the new weapon can be the Kh-31PD air-launched high-speed anti-radiation missile designed to strike enemy radar stations and surface-to-air missile systems. As the booklet suggests, the missile carrying a 110 kg warhead is capable of engaging targets at a maximum range of 250 km and can be air-launched from an altitude of 15 km. Its predecessor is the Kh-31P missile.
TASS earlier reported that practically the entire family of advanced air-launched weapons engineered and produced by Tactical Missiles Corporation was successfully tested in the zone of the special military operation in Ukraine.
