NEW YORK, February 3. /TASS/. Over the past few days, the US military has been monitoring a presumed Chinese spy balloon moving in the north of the country, NBC television reported citing Pentagon spokesperson Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder.

"The United States government has detected and is tracking a high-altitude surveillance balloon that is over the continental United States right now," he said. "We continue to track and monitor it closely."

"Once the balloon was detected, the US government acted immediately to protect against the collection of sensitive information," Ryder added.
