MOSCOW, October 14. /TASS/. Russia will launch mass production of unmanned aerial vehicles, as they have proven very effective in the special military operation in Ukraine, the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said on his Telegram channel on Friday.
"UAVs have proven their effectiveness in modern conflicts. Their use in the zone of the special military operation is an urgent need," he stressed. "Russia is yet to launch large-scale production of UAVs of various types."
Medvedev said there had been a special inspection of the Special Technology Center LLC in St. Petersburg that probed into the supply of Orlan drones under the state defense order. Federal executive authorities and law enforcement agencies took part. Medvedev illustrated the post with videos from the workshops and the business meeting.
At the Army-2022 forum in August the Russian Defense Ministry signed a number of contracts for acquiring Orlan, Inokhodets and Eleron drones. A contract was signed with Special Technology Center LLC for the manufacture and supply of systems equipped with Orlan-10 and Orlan-30 unmanned aerial vehicles. A contract was signed with JSC Kronshtadt for the manufacture and supply of a "complex with an unmanned aerial vehicle Inokhodets". A contract was signed with JSC Eniks for the manufacture and supply of the UAV Eleron-3.
