MINSK, August 21. /ITAR-TASS/. Belarus is ready to supply about one million tons of potatoes and over 200,000 tons of vegetables to Russia in 2014, a Belarusian senior government official said on Thursday.
“We have enough resources not only to provide the population with food but also to export it, including to the Russian Federation. We can supply about one million tons of potatoes to Russia and 204,000 tons of vegetables,” Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Vladimir Grakun said.
Belarus is able to supply 107,000 tons of carrot, 30,000 tons of cabbage, and 27,000 tons of apples, he said.
“Despite the weather, we expect a better vegetable crop than last year and these will be high quality vegetables,” Grakun said.
