MELITOPOL, October 5. /TASS/. Ukrainian attacks on the radioactive waste processing facility at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) could jeopardize the safe handling of radioactive materials, the facility stated.
"Strikes on such facilities are potentially dangerous. The proximity of the laboratory and administrative building to the power units creates a risk of damage to nearby infrastructure and a threat to personnel. Attacks on the radioactive waste processing facility could damage equipment and compromise the safe handling of radioactive materials," the ZNPP said in a statement on its Max channel.
Earlier, Rosatom CEO Alexey Likhachev stated that the Ukrainian armed forces attacked two facilities at the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant last night: the laboratory building and the radioactive waste processing facility. The laboratory building is located 200 meters from power units 4 and 5. In both cases, the roof was damaged, the Rosatom CEO noted.
