Iran’s IRGC chief sees Netanyahu's ICC warrant as ‘political death’ for Israel

According to Hossein Salami, the Israeli leadership is now in complete political isolation, which he described as "a great victory for the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance movements"

DUBAI, November 22. /TASS/. The commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), Hossein Salami, welcomed the International Criminal Court's (ICC) decision to issue an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling it "political death" for Israel.

"The International Criminal Court has taken a commendable step by declaring Zionist (Israeli - TASS) leaders as war criminals who must be held accountable and brought to justice. <...> Today, you are witnessing the political death of the Zionist regime," Salami said during a speech in the Khuzestan province, broadcast live by IRIB television.

According to the IRGC chief, the Israeli leadership is now in complete political isolation, which he described as "a great victory for the Palestinian and Lebanese resistance movements."

"It is now the responsibility of governments around the world to take firm measures and sever the economic lifelines of the Zionist regime," Salami added. He emphasized that an economic blockade could hasten Israel’s collapse but also stressed the importance of cutting off all routes for arms and material supplies—by sea, land, and air.

On November 21, the ICC announced that it had issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Yoav Gallant over alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity committed from at least October 8, 2023, to May 20, 2024, in Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip. According to the court’s pretrial chamber, they are guilty of acts such as murder, persecution, and other inhumane actions, as well as deliberately causing civilian starvation as a method of warfare.
