MINSK, December 14. /TASS/. Intelligence agencies in Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries need to promptly respond to emerging threats and the West’s destabilization attempts, the Belarusian State Security Committee (KGB) said.
"The heads of intelligence agencies agreed that the global transformation of the world order was leading to the West creating new challenges and threats, including attempts to destabilize the domestic situation in the CIS, which are fraught with significant risks in terms of political, social and economic stability. Such actions require a clear and prompt reaction from the intelligence agencies of the Commonwealth member states," the KGB pointed out in a statement following the 19th Meeting of Heads of Security and Intelligence Agencies from CIS member states.
In this regard, the parties emphasized "the need to step up practical cooperation," the agency added. According to the KGB, the meeting’s participants outlined the prospects for further joint work aimed at protecting the national interests of the CIS countries based on an analysis of the current situation.
A memorandum adopted at the meeting "highlights the parties’ determination to use current resources to improve the forms and methods of interaction and boost cooperation in ensuring security of the Commonwealth states.".
