MOSCOW, November 14. /TASS/. The creation of a Palestinian state is historically inevitable, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with RT.

"The creation of a Palestinian state is historically inevitable," Lavrov stated. At the same time, he noted that most current discussions on the future of the Gaza Strip "do not pay due attention" to the creation of a Palestinian state neighboring Israel.

Lavrov stressed that the cessation of hostilities and the adoption of measures to resolve humanitarian problems were urgent tasks in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone.

"The immediate and most urgent task is the cessation of hostilities and the taking measures to resolve humanitarian problems, which are observed everywhere," he said.

Tensions flared up again in the Middle East on October 7 when militants from the radical Palestinian group Hamas staged a surprise attack on Israeli territory from the Gaza Strip. Hamas described its operation as a response to the aggressive actions of Israeli authorities against the Al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem’s Old City. Israel has declared a total blockade of the Gaza Strip and carried out air strikes on the Palestinian enclave, as well as some areas of Lebanon and Syria. Clashes are also underway in the West Bank.
