MINSK, April 3. /TASS/. Belarus plans to realize the constructive potential of its strategic allied relations with Russia, according to the national security concept draft that was posted on the internet portal of legal information on Monday.
Among the measures of defense against external threats to national security, the document cites "the preservation and strengthening of the Union State [of Russia and Belarus], the implementation of the existing constructive potential of strategic allied relations with Russia."
According to the document, Belarus will ensure its military security by means of maintaining its combat capability at a level sufficient to ensure its readiness for armed defense. Major efforts will be focused on "strengthening the collective security system by means of coordinated measures to ensure military security within the Union State, developing the Russian and Belarusian regional group of forces, boosting the efficiency of military administration bodies, means and forces of the CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization - TASS) collective security."
Important areas of defense from external threats to national security in the science and technology sphere are cooperation within the Union State to form a common scientific and technological space, as well as the development of the system of access to international electronic databases of scientific and technical information. Belarus also intends to establish joint research laboratories and centers with friendly countries and organizations.
