MOSCOW, April 3. /TASS/. The intensity of cooperation between Russia and Belarus has increased dramatically in recent years, with the countries developing dynamically, Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi said on Sunday.
"In recent years, the intensity of our cooperation has increased dramatically," he said, noting the frequency of bilateral top-level contacts.
"You see how many meetings are held between our leaders, prime ministers, ministers in various formats. <…> Only the presidents [Vladimir Putin of Russia and Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus] met ten times last year," he said.
The diplomat stressed that cooperation between the two countries has never stopped but in recent 18 months the intensity has further increased. Moscow and Minsk, in his words, have managed to achieve serious results and have new ambitious goals. "We have very ambitious plans and we are not only fighting against the sanctions, as they say, but we are winning. We now pay no attention to them. We are simply developing dynamically and are beating the targets we are setting," he stressed.
Day of the Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus is marked on April 2 every year. In his congratulatory telegram to Lukashenko, Putin noted that closer allied ties are in the interests of Russia and Belarus.
