RIO DE JANEIRO, April 2. /TASS/. Russia’s pragmatic approach to rapprochement with Latin American countries, cemented in the new Foreign Policy Concept, will contribute to strengthening of partnership in the interest of establishment of a multipolar world, says Valdir Bezerra of the San Paolo University’s Group for BRICS Studies (GEBRICS).
"The mentioning of pragmatic rapprochement with Latin American states is aimed at expansion of Russia’s foreign policy to areas, where its presence has been limited so far. Such cooperation is expected to lead to emergency of partnership alliances on protection of a multipolar and diverse world," the expert told TASS.
According to Bezerra, regional states that had "bitter experience" of interaction with the US and its western allies in the past will support Moscow in establishment of a united opposition to "unilateral commands" from Washington and capitals within its sphere of influence.
Furthermore, the expert considers it important that Moscow intends to strengthen its ties with the Islamic world, which, like Russia, does not share "Western cultural and political agenda with its universal approaches."
"It is also possible that, should Islamic states join the BRICS, statements on diversity of civilizations and value systems, promoted by Russia, will be mentioned increasingly often in the system of international relations," the expert added.
