Minsk identifies about 160 Belarusians involved in conflict in Ukraine — interior minister

"It is a very preliminary figure. We have <...> identified 160 people who were somehow seen in Ukraine during military activities," he pointed out, adding that "as soon as it came to taking part in military activities, half of them fled and some were killed."

MINSK, November 24. /TASS/. The Belarusian Interior Ministry has identified about 160 Belarusian nationals involved in the conflict in Ukraine, Interior Minister Ivan Kurbakov said in an interview with the ONT’s "Markov. Nothing Personal" show on Thursday.

"It is a very preliminary figure. We have <...> identified 160 people who were somehow seen in Ukraine during military activities," he pointed out, adding that "as soon as it came to taking part in military activities, half of them fled and some were killed."

"They die promoting Nazi ideas in another country and supporting those Nazi ideas, which is a very bad thing. No matter how many people there are, of course it’s very bad," the minister noted.

"We carry out operations to detect those people who search the Internet for information about how to get to Ukraine and join in the military activities. So we find these people and hold them accountable but in some cases, we just have preventive conversations," the Belarusian interior minister emphasized.
