US no longer considers Russia a market economy — Department of Commerce

The department vested Russia with the status in 2002

WASHINGTON, November 11. /TASS/. The United States will no longer consider Russia a market economy when applying its anti-dumping procedures, the US Department of Commerce announced on Thursday.

"This decision [to revoke Russia's market economy status] gives the United States the ability to apply the full force of the US anti-dumping law to address the market distortions caused by increasing interference from the Russian government in their economy," the department said in a statement.

The department vested Russia with the status in 2002.
