Syrian government sees protecting citizens from terrorists as its right and duty

The battle against terrorist groups in the northwestern governorate of Idlib and in Deraa in the south will continue until all Syrian territories are cleansed of terrorists, the Arab Republic’s Foreign Ministry said

BEIRUT, November 9. /TASS/. Protecting civilians and ensuring their security is the right and duty of the Syrian government, the Arab Republic’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement, published by the SANA news agency.

"The battle against terrorist groups in the northwestern governorate of Idlib and in Deraa in the south will continue until all Syrian territories are cleansed of terrorists, which would pave the way to restoring territorial integrity and stability on every inch of our land," the ministry said on Tuesday.

"Any lies and claims that are promoted either by the sponsors of terrorism and its defenders in the US and its western allies or by their tools which are working under the cover of some international organizations will not dissuade Syria from this battle," the statement reads.

"Our brave troops will keep dealing crushing blows to the enemy until the last terrorist is killed," it reads.

Planes of the Syrian air force attacked a terrorist base in the Kafr Jales district in the western part of the Idlib governorate on November 6, killing a large number of militants. In the south of the country, the government forces have been conducting a counter-terrorism operation in the city of Deraa since October 30. So far, eight militants have been killed and 15 detained as part of the operation.
