UN committee passes Russian-drafted resolution on cyber security

As many as 112 delegations supported the document, 52 voted against it and ten abstained from voting

UNITED NATIONS, November 3. /TASS/. The United Nations General Assembly First Committee on Thursday passed a Russian-drafted resolution titled Developments in the Field of Information and Telecommunications in the Context of International Security, a TASS correspondent reported.

As many as 112 delegations supported the document, 52 voted against it and ten abstained from voting. The UN General Assembly is expected to consider the draft resolution in December. Apart from Russia, another 12 countries participated in drawing up the resolution.

The document, among other things, calls on the members of an open-ended working group to continue exchanging views on regular institutional dialogue on security issues related to the use of information and communication technologies.
