Over half of Krasny Liman comes under Donetsk Republic’s control, says DPR head

In this area, the Ukrainian military is using its ‘favorite tactic’ of using civilians as a human shield

MOSCOW, May 25. /TASS/. Over a half of the territory of Krasny Liman has come under the control of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and few days remain before the town is fully liberated from Ukrainian militants, DPR Head Denis Pushilin said in a live broadcast on the Rossiya-1 TV Channel on Wednesday.

"As of now, over 50% of the community [Krasny Liman] is under our control. Our units have already entered the town and are operating and mopping up the area within the town’s boundaries. That is why, I believe that counted days remain when we can regard Krasny Liman as a liberated community," Pushilin said.

In this area, the Ukrainian military is using its ‘favorite tactic’ of using civilians as a human shield, the DPR head said.

On May 23, First Deputy Head of the DPR Information Ministry Daniil Bezsonov said that offensive operations against the Ukrainian military had restarted in the area of the communities of Avdeyevka, Novosyolovka Vtoraya and Krasny Liman. Spokesman for the DPR People’s Militia Eduard Basurin said on May 24 that the Donetsk Republic’s forces were engaged in heavy fighting with the Ukrainian army near Avdeyevka, Gorlovka, Maryinka and Novomaryinka.
