Ukraine will not compromise on territorial rights, Zelensky tells Rada

MOSCOW, November 19. /TASS/. Vladimir Zelensky, while presenting his "resilience plan" in the Verkhovna Rada, insisted that Ukraine does not intend to abandon its claims on lost territories.

"We will not haggle with our security or sovereignty. We will not give up Ukraine’s right to all of its territory," member of the Ukrainian parliament Yaroslav Zheleznyak quoted Zelensky as saying on his Telegram channel.

Moscow also insists that all Western sanctions on Russia be lifted and that Ukraine’s non-alignment and non-nuclear status be guaranteed. Kiev rejected the Russian peace plan.

The DPR, LPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions became part of Russia following referendums held there September 23-27, 2022. Crimea and Sevastopol returned to Russia following the March 2014 referendum held amid the coup in Ukraine. Over 80% of those eligible to vote participated in the referendum on the Crimean Peninsula with 96.7% and 95.6% of the voters of Crimea and Sevastopol voting for reunification with Russia, respectively.
