Ukraine’s proposals imply Russia not against country’s accession to EU — chief negotiator

On March 29, a new face-to-face round between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine was held in Istanbul

ISTANBUL, March 29. /TASS/. Kiev’s written proposals for an agreement with Moscow imply that Russia has no objection to Ukraine’s aspiration to join the European Union, Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky, who leads the Russian delegation to the talks with Ukraine, said on Tuesday after a meeting in Istanbul.

"[Kiev’s proposals imply that] for its part, the Russian Federation does not object to Ukraine’s desire to join the European Union," Medinsky stated.

The first round of negotiations between the delegations of Russia and Ukraine was held in Belarus on February 28. Later, talks between the delegations resumed via a video link. On March 29, a new face-to-face round was held in Istanbul.
